'Precious Metal' is one of the most iconic Air racers in modern times. She is the 'people's racer' driven by an all volunteer crew and small private donations and sponsors. On the way to the National Championship Air Races on Septemer 8, 2015, she suffered an unexpected engine fire on the ground at a fuel stop, and sustained severe airframe damage. Operation "PM rescue" has commenced! Her dedicated crew of volunteers spent three days taking her apart and getting her ready to come home. This is a time lapse of the last two days.
