The 2013 edition of the BCS National Championship Game featured two of the most storied programs in the history of college football - the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Billed as a battle between two great defenses, fans and media pundits alike were shocked as the Alabama offense steamrolled the vaunted defense of the Irish to the tune of over 500 yards in a 42-14 rout of Notre Dame. The victory marked Alabama's 3rd national championship in 4 years and Alabama head coach Nick Saban's 4th national title overall. Eddie Lacy and CJ Mosley were named the game's most valuable players.
