Billed as a battle between two great defenses, fans and media pundits alike were shocked as the Alabama offense steamrolled the vaunted defense of the Irish to the tune of over 500 yards in a 42-14 rout of Notre Dame. The victory marked Alabama's 3rd national championship in 4 years and Alabama head coach Nick Saban's 4th national title overall. Eddie Lacy and CJ Mosley were named the game's most valuable players.
