The all-new 7 or 8-passenger 3-row utility from Subaru is called Ascent. This mid-size crossover, or SUV, is powered by a 2.4L turbocharged flat 4-cylinder with 260hp and 277lb.-ft. of torque. The base $36,000 Ascent comes standard in Canada with a AWD, the advanced Eyesight safety system, heated seats and a 6.5-inch centre screen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. All but the base get an 8-inch head unit. Subaru really wants to sell the $41,000 Touring model that adds the larger radio, a moon roof, power tailgate and an external oil cooler to enable this mid-sized three-row utility of 5000lbs. of towing capacity. The higher end trims get 20-inch wheels compared to bae 18-inch wheels and these also include features like LED adaptive headlamps, LED fog lights, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, navigation and even a rear view mirror that turns into a wide-angle screen.
